From the creator of Pre-Apocalyptic Blues: Mandatory Upgrade – X Marks the Spot

It’s been some time since I last wrote for this blog, and though I’ve occasionally thought of revisiting the world of Pre-Apocalyptic Blues, it has yet to be the right time. But! For those who enjoyed the cyberpunk antics of Simon, Trent, and friends, another project of mine may be right up your alley.

I’ve been busy creating a new cyberpunk flavoured tabletop role-playing game called Mandatory Upgrade. As a part of that, I’ve teamed up with One More Story Games to create an interactive story game based in the world of Mandatory Upgrade. This game is called X Marks the Spot and it has been recently released to their Story World platform. You can find out more details by checking out the press release and the X Marks the Spot page on my website.

I’d love it if you’d check out my game and let me know what you think. If you were a fan of the webcomic, I think you’ll appreciate this game. It’s a little more on the dramatic side, but still lightly sprinkled with my particular brand of humour, plus gobs of future-tech. Try the demo and if you like what you see you can purchase the full game on Story World. Thanks in advance for your support!

I’m feeling a bit warm in the trouser region at the moment as I’ve obviously told a major fib in my last post. I just never really got around to doing any more comics in my non-existent free time. I have been pretty busy doing all manner of game design work in the past while though. You can check out what I’ve been up to with that at my business portfolio website: Ironic Iconic Studios. It’s only updated slightly more than this page, so don’t get too excited.

In the meantime, if you’ve come to check out my webcomic, I can suggest a few places to start:

Begin at the beginning – Where Kevin and I were still getting our feet wet and figuring this comic thing out.

The “AI Love You” story-line – Where Trent discovers the perils of digital love.

Chris Dusts off the Drawing-Board – Where I take over the drawing duties and slowly rediscover my arts education.

The “AWOL AI” story-line – Where the AI Love You story continues in a cyberspace romp.

Where ever you start, I hope that you enjoy the ride. I’ve been re-reading the comics in preparation for this post and have enjoyed some quality giggling myself. And what more can you ask for?

The State of the Comic Address

I only put on this outfit for special occasions, like important speeches and weekend brunches.

I’m gonna be straight with you: I’m super busy right now. Along with my current full-time contract, I’m involved with a bunch of other projects that are taking up my time. The good news is that these projects all revolve around game writing, which I love. The bad news is that I don’t have as much time to put into this comic, which I also love. What this means for the near future (and recent past) is that Pre-Apocalyptic Blues will be updated in a more sporadic manner i.e. not every Monday.

So the best way for you to get the new comics when they do get posted is to subscribe for email updates via the widget in the right hand menu, Like the Facebook page, or follow the Twitter feed.

If you’re interested in checking out the other things that I do, I’m in the process of creating a website for my company Ironic Iconic Studios and I’ll be posting a link to that shortly. In the meantime, you can check out my needing-to-be-updated portfolio.
